Hi, my name
is Dave Lenart-owner / operator of The Vermont Fly Box Company.
I
have been a fly fisher my whole life. Taught by my father, I
learned the art of catching trout on a fly rod here on the streams
in central Vermont. Like most of us, this hobby has turned into
more of a way of life-and the older I get, the more I appreciate
the skill, finesse and artwork associated with this sport.
Several years
ago, I started making hardwood fly boxes for personal use and
as gifts for fly fishing friends. The business began, as popularity
of these unique wooden fly boxes grew. It seemed strange to me
that the "best" fly boxes on the market at the
time still had a cold, mass-produced feel and look to them. I wanted
something that was consistent with the beauty and feel of my hand-tied
flies, my split-cane rod and my handmade landing net-and something
that distinctly said "Vermont".
Through several
design changes, we now offer what I believe to be the best looking,
most functional and practical wooden fly boxes on the market.
These are not "presentation boxes," they
are made to use and pass on to future fly fishers. These
boxes are rugged tools, every bit as capable on the stream as other
fly boxes made from synthetic materials. They are lightweight,
weighing about 4 ounces, and they
float. Sure, they'll hold and protect your flies like all the other
fly boxes, but The Vermont Fly Box Company
boxes look and feel like no other fly boxes on the market.
I hope
you enjoy our fly boxes, and the fly fishing sport-the way of
life-as much as I do.
Dave
